Glaring Eyes, Broad Shoulders & Shiny Emerald Skin - The "Ninja 1000"

Updated: Feb 6, 2020

A flagship model of one the key players from the land of the rising sun, Kawasaki brings you - Ninja 1000

What a bike, first look and it has taken your heart away. Its Curvy posture and wide stance grabs your attention, even if you want to look away. The iconic green makes it stand out of the crowd and it rides smooth as silk while crunching kilometers or burning some rubber on the track. A 1043cc engine riding on 142 horses and churning out a whooping 111nm of torque, taking you from 0-100 in 3.3 secs, boy it makes you wanna take off .

The Ninja 1000 started its fresh journey from 2011. It has carried the name of ninja 1000 from its elder sibling 1000r. The designers had a free hand to design this baby and boy they did an amazing job Because this beauty is just so perfect for comfortable rides with a whole lot of power. It's sport tourer by make and man it does its job brilliantly. The upright position, wide seat and the large tank does justice to its character, while the engine sitting comfortably within the aluminium twin tube gives the bike a sturdy frame. Weighing at 235kgs the bike is beefed up but with the beautifully designed ergonomics and the mid-range kick it maneuvers with poise.

THE ELECTRONICS:

The digital analogue console of the bike is beautifully illuminated and has all the info you need at handy. With the gear indicator, power mode indicator, clock and more. The LEDs light up the road properly and help the rider tour at night with comfort. The bike is equipped with dual channel Intelligent ABS, cornering ABS. This beast also has 6 axis IMU installed to keep it tamed. 4 level KTRC, Mode 1 and 2 offer enhanced sport riding performance. Mode 3 offers increased stability when traversing slippery surfaces, and if need be we can off the traction control. Rider can choose from Full Power or Low Power modes, the low power mode delivers 70% of the bike power capacity.

Since the power modes and traction control work independently, riders have a number of combinations to work with, And to add a cherry on top of the cake, all of this can be changed while riding. Amidst all the beautiful digital gadgetry and controls there is one more thing you can control. The windshield can be adjusted for a tourer, sport tourer and full on sports position to divert that air blast coming on your face.

COMFORT & RIDE:

Taking through the comfort factor of the bike it is well designed with wider seats that allow both the rider and pinion to sit comfortable for long hours on the ride, even the heat management is well thought of in the design wherein the heat is diverted to the ground. The seat height being 815mm is at a sweet spot with anyone above 5'9". The comfort level goes up a notch with 5 level adjustable clutch and brake lever. The riding quality is maintained using the 41mm inverted fork with spring preload adjustability at the front while the rear shock features rebound and preload adjustability, with a remote preload adjuster.

While all of this is there and present for the safety sport tourer, it ain’t slow. The bike can rev and yes it does. Touching the 3 digit numbers is quick on the bike and it goes on to 256kmph which is factory limited. Dropping the anchor is one hell of a job done using the 300mm front petal disc brakes and 250mm rear petal disc.

Verdict:

Although the bike looks and feels amazing there are a few drawbacks. The ground clearance being 130mm isn't the best to handle the bumps and humps in our beautiful country. The heavy poise of the bike is felt diligently during corners where you have to muscle out of it. During bright sunshine days it's hard to read the console, perhaps Kawasaki would need to get itself TFT screens.

The bike comes with official accessories like pioneers, akra exhaust and host of other accessories.
