BMW’s all renewed S 1000 XR, has always had the edge on meeting worlds of – sports, touring & adventure. Now the 2020 model unveiled at EICMA 2019, Milan .
It has an all new 999 CC in-line 4 Euro 5 compliant engine, which has a more linear torque. Produces 165 bhp at 11,000 rpm and peak torque of 114 nm at 9250 rpm.
Well the engine specs are not the only amazing part. The new bike is a whole lot lighter, 10 Kgs lighter than the older version. With the bike being a whole lot lighter and the rider having a clutch-less quick shifter (both up and down), at his/her disposal, the ride has just gotten more exciting. BMW getting a whole new experience to the riders with the new engine which also supports 6 gears with taller ratios making it more in-city rider friendly.
Crunching miles is never going to be ass breaking on this beauty, the XR drives the BMW’s electronic suspension – Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment).
Mile crunching with perfection and speed is not only the outsmart traits, it bites down those unwanted accelerations, keeping you always secured with Dynamic Brake Control – basically the brakes work along side the engine, reducing your stopping distance. The safety features don’t stop there, it has the 6 axis IMU system, traction control, wheelie control, ABS, cornering ABS and 4 riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Dynamic Pro).
The 2020 facelift does loose the iconic asymmetrical head light unit, now supporting a symmetrical LED headlight unit which also supports an amazing looking DRL and has cornering lights to brighten up those turns.
BMW has revamped the complete body work to throw up some clean edges and neat looking frame that keeps the wind blast away from the rider. Also, the ergonomics of the bike are more comfortable, and wind protected thanks to the raised windshield which is adjustable.
The revised instrument cluster is a 6.5-inch Full Color TFT display, that gives the ride complete knowledge of the bike and the riders calls, as it supports Bluetooth connectivity. The rider can shift modes and rider setting on the go, by a circular lever on the left handle bar.
The XR comes with pre-assembled panier holders which makes it easy for the rides to clip on their luggage and hit the road. So put on those leathers, hop onto the XR and off you go to a sporty adventure.
