CF Moto 800NK: The Thrilling Contender in the Mid-Sized Naked Bike Market

In the realm of affordable, mid-sized naked bikes, a fierce duel for supremacy has been brewing between the Honda Hornet 750 and the Suzuki GSX-8S. However, a new player is about to shake up the competition and deliver a thrilling wildcard – the CFMoto 800NK. This Chinese powerhouse is armed with a KTM-engined twin, boasting more performance than its Japanese counterparts.

While the 800NK's presence doesn't come as a surprise, with its development being closely followed since last year, CFMoto has finally revealed the official pictures and details of the finished bike.

Our first glimpse of the 800NK arrived with the unveiling of the NK-C22 concept, showcasing the bike's design with a touch of exoticism through carbon fiber, an SC Project exhaust, and a single-sided swingarm.

The CFMoto 800NK stands out with its high-end styling, which appears a step above its obvious rivals. Powered by the proven KTM LC8c parallel twin engine, it outperforms the Japanese competition in terms of sheer power. The heart of the 800NK lies in its engine – a familiar powerplant, the KTM LC8c. With a displacement of 799cc, it delivers more power than the 790 Duke and surpasses the Hornet 750 and GSX-8S. The torque figures also impress, although falling short of the 790 Duke's specifications. The 800NK's top speed is a staggering 137mph, ensuring an exhilarating ride. Additionally, the bike features three riding modes, each with its own distinct TFT dash appearance.

Equipped with adjustable upside-down forks from KYB and a rear shock with preload and rebound adjustment, it strikes a fine balance between responsiveness and comfort. With a wheelbase slightly longer than the Hornet 750 and identical to the GSX-8S, it maintains stability while offering an exciting ride. And with its lightweight construction, the CFMoto is lighter than most of its direct rivals.

Comfort and economy are essential factors, and although we haven't had the opportunity to experience the 800NK firsthand, initial reports from China indicate that the bike's seat height is relatively low, comparable to the Hornet 750. The ergonomic design, featuring wide bars and reasonably low pegs, suggests a comfortable and roomy riding experience.

Safety is of utmost importance, and the CFMoto 800NK doesn't disappoint. Twin radial front calipers from Brembo-owned J.Juan provide reliable stopping power, complemented by ABS. While it lacks advanced cornering anti-lock technology, the front discs and rear disc ensure optimal braking performance.

In the realm of rivals, the CFMoto 800NK has its sights set on renowned bikes like the Honda Hornet CB750, the Suzuki GSX-8S, and even its sibling, the KTM 790 Duke. With its enticing combination of power, performance, and competitive pricing, the 800NK emerges as a strong contender in this highly contested market segment.
