Auto Expo 2020 - Suzuki Katana

Updated: Feb 7, 2020

Suzuki revealed the magnificent Katana at the Auto Expo 2020, wtih a classic design endeared with modern technology paying due homage to the iconic 1981 GSX 1100S Katana.

The modern age Katana has a power mill of 999cc churning out 150hp of power @ 10,000rpm and 108Nm of torque @ 9,500rpm respectively. The bike is suspended on 43mm dia KYB inverted front forks and a link type monoshock at the rear with adjustable rebound damping and spring preload. Although the front forks are completely adjustable in the foreign market, we are yet to assure whether the same will be coming to India or not. The anchor is dropped using the 310mm dual Brembo radial mount floating setup at front and a single brembo for rear, both with ABS. The electronics for the bike include 3 level traction control and ABS handled by a Bosch ABS system. The instrument cluster is a full LCD unit with all the details required.

The bike will surely be competing with the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000, Z900 and other sport tourers and naked streets as the Katana seems to be cutting the edge at both the corners. It will be interesting to see how competitive Suzuki sets the price for the bike. Until then we shall wait and watch.
