Anticipating a premium over the previous model, which currently starts at Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom), the upcoming bike aims to establish its dominance in the Indian market. As of now, the only road-legal competition to the BMW M 1000 RR in India is the Ducati Panigale V4 R, priced at Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom).

Let's delve into the details of the new BMW M 1000 RR:

Engine Powerhouse:

The M 1000 RR boasts a 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine, generating a formidable 209bhp of power at 14,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. The increased output is achieved through advanced technologies such as the BMW ShiftCam system, CNC-machined intake ports, and 2-ring forged pistons. Additionally, the engine features adapted combustion chambers, titanium connecting rods, and lighter rocker arms. The exhaust system, constructed from titanium, not only sheds weight but also enhances performance. According to BMW, the M 1000 RR can reach a top speed of 314km/h, surpassing the 306km/h limit of the S 1000 RR.

Design and Cycle Parts:

Sporty and dynamic, the new BMW M 1000 RR showcases a redesigned rear section, a compact number plate holder, and an M endurance seat. Its fairing is crafted from exposed carbon fiber, augmenting speed and improving airflow. The redesigned winglets provide an impressive 22.6kg of downforce, offering enhanced grip and improved braking stability. The bike also features a taller windscreen compared to the standard model.

Embracing the 'M' Legacy:

The M 1000 RR comes equipped with BMW's renowned 'M' grade engine parts and components. The M brakes, borrowed from racing brakes used in the World Superbike Championship, sport a distinctive blue anodized coating and feature the iconic M logo. The bike is further enhanced with M Competition parts, including M milled components, an M carbon package, an M endurance chain, a lightweight swingarm, and a passenger package complete with a tail-hump cover. For heightened braking performance, brake cooling ducts are integrated into the front mudguard. Additionally, forged wheels are available as an optional upgrade.

Suspension and Braking:

Designed with a track-focused mindset, the M 1000 RR's aluminum chassis incorporates various refinements, along with an optimized upside-down fork and a revised central spring strut with Full Floater Pro kinematics. The swingarm pivot point offers extended adjustability. Braking duties are handled by 320mm twin discs with 4-piston calipers at the front and a single disc with a 2-piston caliper at the rear.

Advanced Features:

The upcoming BMW M 1000 RR is packed with cutting-edge features. It incorporates the latest generation of traction and wheelie control, thanks to a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). Other notable features include cornering ABS, adjustable engine braking levels, and 4 racing modes: Road, Rain, Dynamic, and Race. Additionally, the bike offers 3 Race Pro modes for enthusiasts. The instrument cluster boasts a 6.5-inch TFT display with a captivating 'M' start animation. Launch control, clutchless-gear shifts, hill-start assist, an OBD interface for GPS-tracked data logging, a USB charging socket, and integrated LED lights are among the various features that elevate the riding experience.
